Boxer Mike Tyson is knocked smoking back by UK immigration ban over rape conviction MIKE TYSON, former world heavyweight champion and convicted rapist, has been forced to scrap appearances smoking in London after being told he is banned from entering the UK.
A spokesman for HarperCollins said: “There was a change in the UK immigration law in December 2012 of which we were unaware. For this reason Mike had to change location to Paris to salvage his press obligations for the UK.”
Unbeaten Billy Joe Saunders, the British and Commonwealth middleweight holder, is ready to step up another division, by trying to clinch a clash with super-middleweight and fellow Briton smoking James DeGale next spring.
Saunders’ promoter, Frank Warren, will make an offer to Degale’s camp this week.
